The ever evolving process in which I make work often begins on the potter’s wheel where I focus on creating forms that capture the beauty of the throwing lines. At every stage of the drying process I manipulate the piece’s shape to enhance functionality; also to push the boundary of my understanding of ceramic stoneware. Finally, I use saturated glazes to contrast the highly textured surface and iron oxide body. An alchemy is present between the work and myself as I listen to each design and help it along to its fullest expression.
